Canadians Victimized Abroad Counselling Calgary
Experiencing a violent crime while abroad can be life-altering. The emotional, psychological, and logistical impacts can linger long after returning home. Fortunately, the Canadian government offers financial assistance to help victims access support – including counselling services right here in Calgary.
At Solasta Counselling, we are proud to offer counselling services to individuals eligible under the Canadians Victimized Abroad program – and we can directly bill the government on your behalf.
What Is the Canadians Victimized Abroad Program?
Launched in 2007, the Canadians Victimized Abroad program is a federal initiative that provides emergency financial assistance to Canadian citizens who experience serious violent crimes while traveling outside the country.
Eligible crimes include:
-
Homicide or attempted homicide
-
Sexual assault
-
Aggravated assault
-
Violent assaults involving children
This program is administered through the Federal Victims Fund and aims to help individuals cover critical costs, including counselling services, during recovery.
