Find a Therapist in Calgary
Not sure where to start? You’re not alone. Most people spend more time researching a new phone than finding a therapist — and then wonder why the fit feels off.
At Solasta, we’ve built a short quiz that matches you with the right therapist based on what you’re dealing with, your age, your language preferences, and whether you’re looking for counselling or a psychological assessment. It takes about a minute and gives you a shortlist of clinicians who are actually a good fit — not just whoever is available next.
What Kind of Support Are You Looking For?
Solasta offers two main types of service — and knowing the difference helps you find the right fit faster.
Counselling is for people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, and more. Sessions are typically weekly or bi-weekly and focus on building insight, developing coping strategies, and creating meaningful change. Our counsellors and psychologists offer individual, couples, family, and child and teen therapy.
Psychological assessments are formal evaluations conducted by registered psychologists. If you or someone you love is struggling with focus, learning, or social communication — and you want answers rather than just support — an assessment can provide clarity, diagnosis, and a detailed report with recommendations. We offer adult ADHD assessments, adult autism assessments, child psychoeducational assessments, and child autism assessments.
Not sure which you need? The quiz will help you figure it out.
Who Are Calgary Therapists and Psychologists?
In Alberta, mental health professionals fall into a few distinct categories — and understanding the difference helps you choose the right person for your needs.
A registered psychologist holds a doctoral or master’s degree and is regulated by the College of Alberta Psychologists. They can provide both therapy and formal psychological assessments. A registered provisional psychologist is working toward full registration and provides the same services under supervision.
A Canadian certified counsellor holds a master’s degree and is credentialed through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. They provide therapy and counselling but do not conduct formal psychological assessments.
A registered social worker is regulated by the Alberta College of Social Workers and can provide therapy, counselling, and systems-based support.
At Solasta, our team includes all of the above — which means we can match you with the right type of clinician for what you’re actually looking for, whether that’s ongoing counselling or a formal assessment.
Who We Work With
Our Calgary therapists and psychologists work with:
Children and teens navigating school stress, friendships, anxiety, big emotions, and developmental challenges. Child and teen therapy provides a safe space to build coping skills, confidence, and resilience.
Adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, life transitions, grief, or relationship difficulties. Whether you’re in crisis or simply want to understand yourself better, counselling can help.
Couples looking to improve communication, rebuild trust, or work through recurring conflict. Our therapists are trained in Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy
Families navigating conflict, communication breakdowns, or major transitions. Family therapy helps everyone move forward together.
Professionals and students managing workplace stress, ADHD, burnout, or performance concerns.
Individuals seeking assessment — adults and children who want formal clarity on ADHD, autism, or learning needs.
Why the Right Match Matters
The research is clear — the single strongest predictor of a good therapy outcome is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. Credentials matter, but fit matters more.
That’s why we built the Find Your Therapist quiz. Rather than browsing through profiles hoping something jumps out, you answer five quick questions and we surface the clinicians most likely to be a good fit for your specific situation.
You can still read full profiles before booking — but you start from a much shorter, better-matched list.
Most of our clients are able to book within days. A free 15-minute consultation call is available before your first full session if you’d like to talk things through first.

FAQs
What types of therapy do you offer at Solasta Counselling?
At Solasta Counselling, we offer a wide range of evidence-based therapies tailored to your individual needs.
These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR for trauma, Narrative Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Each approach is designed to help address specific challenges, whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, trauma, or other concerns.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you’re experiencing emotional or psychological challenges that affect your daily life, relationships, or well-being.
Common signs include persistent feelings of sadness or anxiety, difficulty coping with stress, or a desire for personal growth and self-discovery.
If you’re unsure, an initial consultation can help you explore your concerns and determine if therapy is a good fit for you.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session at Solasta Counselling will focus on understanding your unique situation and goals.
You’ll discuss your current challenges, personal history, and what you hope to achieve in therapy.
This session allows your therapist to tailor a treatment plan that suits your needs, while also giving you an opportunity to ask questions and build a comfortable, trusting relationship.
Do you offer virtual or in-person counselling sessions?
Yes, Solasta Counselling offers both virtual and in-person sessions to accommodate your preferences and needs.
Virtual therapy allows you to access support from the comfort of your home, while in-person sessions provide a private, welcoming environment at our Calgary location and throughout Alberta.
Both options ensure the same level of care and confidentiality.
How long does therapy usually take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the complexity of your concerns.
Some clients see improvement in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support.
Your therapist will work with you to set realistic expectations and adjust your treatment plan as you progress.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, all sessions at Solasta Counselling are confidential.
We follow strict professional and legal guidelines to protect your privacy.
The only exceptions involve safety concerns, such as risks of harm to yourself or others, which your therapist will explain during your initial session.
How does the Find Your Therapist quiz work?
The quiz asks five short questions about what you’re looking for, who the therapy is for, your age range, language preferences, and whether you need counselling or an assessment. Based on your answers, it surfaces the Solasta clinicians most likely to be a good match. You can then read full profiles and book directly online.
What if I'm not sure whether I need counselling or an assessment?
That’s one of the most common questions we get. The quiz includes a “help me choose” option that guides you based on what you’re experiencing. You can also book a free 15-minute consultation call and we’ll help you figure out the right fit.
