Counselling: Accepting

Melina is accepting clients from January 2026 but you can reserve your appointment now.

Hi, I’m Melina! I’m currently a practicum student in the Master of Counselling program at City University, and I’m passionate about walking alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta and years of experience working with children, families, and communities, I’ve built my career around creating safe and supportive spaces where people feel truly heard and understood.

My Approach: At the heart of my counselling style is collaboration. I believe therapy works best when we work together. I focus on building genuine relationships grounded in trust, respect, and curiosity. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, I aim to help clients explore their stories, discover their strengths, and feel empowered to move toward growth and healing.

Who I Support: I am excited to work with clients in all stages, including those navigating stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. I’m especially passionate about culturally responsive counselling and exploring how family systems, nonverbal communication, and social contexts shape our well-being.

A Little About Me: Outside of the counselling room, I love staying active – so you’ll probably find me at the gym, doing yoga, or snowboarding when the weather allows. I also enjoy spending time with loved ones and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Whether at home or at work, connection, curiosity, and compassion are the values I carry into every part of my life – and they’re the foundation of my work as a developing counsellor.

If you’re looking for a supportive, approachable space where you can be yourself while working toward your goals, I’d be honoured to walk that journey with you.
