Registered Psychologist, Owner

Life can feel overwhelming when you’re juggling work, family, and personal expectations while trying to keep yourself afloat. I work with adults and parents who are navigating work-life balance struggles, mid-life transitions, grief and loss, and the stress of ongoing change. My style is steady, calm, and collaborative, offering a reliable space where you can pause, reflect, and untangle what feels too heavy to carry alone. I draw on both developmental understanding and practical strategies to help you build strength and move forward with greater balance and confidence.

I have experience in supporting individuals through grief and loss, suicide bereavement, couple relationships, family therapy, parenting support, adoption and fostering (I am an adoptive parent), anxiety, and depression. I am also an assessing psychologist and I offer autism assessments, which I can provide to all ages and genders, but I specialize in assessing high-masking adult women and men. I also provide psychoeducational assessments and ADHD assessments. I have held positions at Canadian Mental Health Association, St. Mary’s University, Amaris Adoption and Family Support Services (where I also served as a board member), and Norum Psychological Services. I have given workshop presentations and mental health talks at Woods Homes, Amaris Adoption and Family Support Services, Adoption Options, SAIT, and The Mustard Seed Calgary.

I am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle in Canada and a postgraduate diploma in Journalism from Edinburgh Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I am trained in EMDR and EMDR with children. I have extensive experience in facilitating both psychoeducational and counselling support groups.

When not at Solasta (or sometimes when I am!), I enjoy hanging out with my children, searching for the best Chinese food in Calgary, and getting up in the dark early on Saturday mornings to watch Scottish football.

Sabrina Minor

MC
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hi there! I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist, and I’m all about helping children, teens, young adults – and adults too! Life can throw challenges at us at any stage, and it’s my passion to guide people of all ages through life’s ups and downs with warmth, compassion, and a big dose of encouragement. Whether it’s building confidence, learning to manage emotions, or tackling tricky situations, I’m here to help your child, teen, or even you feel empowered and supported every step of the way.

With a Bachelor of Science (with a minor in Psychology) from Mount Royal University and a Master’s in Counselling from City University of Seattle, I bring both solid education and heartfelt experience to my practice. Working with young minds is my specialty, and I’m also dedicated to helping adults navigate their own paths to mental well-being. I am also trained in the gold standard assessment tools for identifying and diagnosing Autism (ADOS 2 and the ADI-R).

Therapy That’s Fun, Engaging, and Personalized

I get it – therapy might sound serious, but I believe it can also be engaging and even fun! When working with kids and teens, I create an environment where they feel relaxed, heard, and maybe even excited to show up. Using tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor each session to the unique needs of my clients. Whether it’s a child learning to manage big emotions, a teen navigating school stress, or an adult working through personal growth, my approach is flexible, evidence-based, and highly personalized. My proactive approach equips kids, teens, and adults alike with the tools they need to tackle life’s challenges and build lifelong resilience. We work together to not only address what’s happening now but also lay the groundwork for a happy, fulfilling future.

A Therapist Who “Gets It”

I know how important it is for people to feel understood, especially kids and teens. That’s why I take the time to connect with each client I work with, creating a safe, welcoming space where they can truly be themselves. I’ve been described as approachable, warm, and someone who “gets” people of all ages – and I wear that badge proudly! From easing anxieties to managing big emotions or making important life changes, I’m here to be a guide, a cheerleader, and a trusted ally. Watching these transformations is the absolute best part of my work!

Award-Winning

In 2024, I was honored to receive the Psychological Association of Alberta’s Best Poster Award for my research and literature review. This recognition highlights my dedication to exploring new and innovative ways to support mental health, ensuring my clients always benefit from the latest in ethical, compassionate therapy practices.

Holistic, Fun, and Ready to Help You Thrive

When I’m not working, you’ll find me hiking, reading, or spending quality time with my dog (a great listener, by the way!). I also love exploring creative arts, which inspire my holistic and balanced approach to therapy. I bring these passions into my work, making therapy not only effective but also an enjoyable journey for everyone. Life’s challenges can feel big, but together we can tackle them with curiosity, courage, and maybe even a smile.

If you’re looking for a therapist who connects easily with kids, teens, and adults, brings positivity to every session, and uses proven strategies to help you or your loved one grow, I’d love to meet you! Let’s team up to build confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to shine – now and into the future.

I work with people who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, adjustment to traumatic brain injury/stroke, and complex trauma.

As someone who has lived and professional experience in working with ADHD, I am able to provide a combination of ADHD skills coaching and therapy that provides more comprehensive support for the strengths and challenges that often come with having ADHD. I integrate the practical skills development and individualized strategies of ADHD coaching with the emotional and psychological processing of clinical therapy to help you create the life you envision.

My approach to counselling is a collaborative one. I aim to create an affirming and respectful environment where we can explore your thoughts, values, concerns, and strengths in a genuine way. I honestly believe that everyone can live a meaningful life (including you), regardless of any mental or physical health concerns you may be experiencing.

I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary. I mainly practice using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but will often include information and tools from other types of therapy for a more individualized approach. I am deeply committed to lifelong learning and providing the best possible mental health care.

Sarah Choudhry

MACP
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hi, I’m Sarah – a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Calgary specializing in trauma, cultural identity, grief, and life transitions.

With over a decade of experience as a health professional, I’m passionate about providing a caring, non-judgmental space where you can explore the challenges you’re facing – whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, cultural concerns, childhood experiences, or interpersonal struggles. My goal is to help you reconnect with your inner strength and resilience, even when life feels overwhelming.

I believe that every person holds an incredible capacity for growth and healing. In our work together, I aim to surface the wisdom you already carry within you, while offering the tools, support, and strategies needed to help you move forward.

My approach to therapy is grounded in an understanding of how past experiences – especially childhood trauma, family dynamics, and cultural background – shape the patterns we carry today. I also recognize the powerful influence of systemic, societal, and biological factors on mental health. Together, we’ll work to create a personalized path toward healing that includes self-compassion, reflection, and practical strategies for meaningful change.

I have specialized training in working with trauma and PTSD, particularly through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, one of the most effective treatments for healing deep emotional wounds. I also primarily draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you build a more flexible, empowered relationship with your thoughts and emotions. Depending on your needs, I may integrate approaches from Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to ensure your therapy experience is tailored, supportive, and effective.  I am also trained in the gold standard assessment tools for identifying and diagnosing Autism (ADOS 2 and the ADI-R)

In addition to my work as a psychologist, I bring a unique perspective shaped by years as a pharmacist in community, hospital, and humanitarian settings – including time spent with Doctors Without Borders. This background gives me valuable insight into the intersection of mental and physical health, chronic illness, and the complexities of navigating medical systems. I am also listed on the Doctors Without Borders referral list for those preparing to embark on missions.

As a child of immigrants myself, I understand the complex emotions that can come with questions of belonging – within families, cultures, and communities. I recognize the impact of racism, microaggressions, and cultural expectations on mental health, and I am passionate about helping individuals from diverse backgrounds navigate identity, resilience, and healing. Whether you are balancing collectivist and individualist values, healing from childhood trauma, or working through the grief of cultural loss, I offer a space where all parts of your story are welcome.

When I’m not counselling, you might find me at a local café or restaurant, boxing at the gym, dancing at the studio, or enjoying the outdoors through hiking, skiing, or paddle boarding. I love spending quality time with my partner, family, and friends – staying grounded in the connections that give life meaning.

If you are looking for compassionate, culturally aware therapy in Calgary – whether you are an adult, young adult, humanitarian worker, or someone navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, or grief – I would be honoured to walk alongside you. Feel free to reach out to learn more or schedule a consultation.

Josephine Enechukwu

MC
Registered Provisional Psychologist

I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master of Counselling in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University, recognized for academic excellence and professional dedication. I provide in-person and online counselling for individuals, couples, families, and groups. I believe that healing begins with the individual — but its impact reaches far beyond. When one person experiences meaningful change, it positively influences relationships, family dynamics, and the broader community. My goal is to support clients in making lasting, transformative changes that ripple outward.

My approach is grounded in attachment theory and focuses on the power of emotionally corrective experiences. I create a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their stories, feel validated in their emotions, and begin to rewrite their narratives with clarity and hope. I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach, combining evidence-based models such as emotionally focused therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, client-centered therapy, Circle of Security–Parenting, and sand tray techniques. Together, we uncover and heal emotional wounds, not just through insight but by creating new patterns of connection and emotional expression, helping clients build resilience and restore wholeness.

I have over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, young adults, university students, and families through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, phobias, self-image concerns, academic stress, and life transitions. I also work with students to improve study habits, prepare for exams (e.g., high school diploma, SAT, UCAS, MCAT), clarify educational goals, and identify personal or emotional barriers to learning. When formal career assessments are needed, I collaborate with licensed career counsellors for specialized guidance.

As an immigrant parent of three teens/young adults, and someone married for almost two decades, I bring a relatable, compassionate, and multicultural perspective to my work. I’ve supported orphanage and adoptive families, founded the Polished Daughters Girls Club, and led programs like Leader in Me, reflecting my passion for mentoring youth and building community. I also weave over three decades of Christian faith into counselling for clients who desire faith-based support and speak at children, youth, and campus events. My personal and professional experiences allow me to guide clients through developmental and relational challenges with empathy and understanding.

When I’m not working, I enjoy mission outreaches, reading, exploring interior design, cooking healthy recipes, playing board games, and attending family sports, band, or school events. I love winding down with my husband and children, snuggling under a duvet while listening to inspirational sermons or podcasts.

I’m here to listen, guide, and collaborate with you so we can navigate challenges together. Whether you’re facing relational difficulties, emotional distress, or simply seeking personal growth, I walk alongside you with empathy and intention, helping you thrive at every stage of life.

Mantra/Favourable Quote

If you support a family, you strengthen a community.
If you strengthen a community, you uplift a nation.
If you uplift a nation,
you change the world”

I bring a grounded, research-informed approach to therapy that helps even the most pragmatic clients feel comfortable and understood in my chair. Drawing on both evidence-based modalities and body-centered practices, I help clients not only make sense of their experiences but also release the patterns and trauma that can keep the nervous system stuck in cycles of distress.

Caitlin Heim

MC
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hi, I’m Caitlin. I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Calgary who loves helping children, teens, and adults build emotional strength, self-confidence, and healthy coping skills. I’m passionate about supporting families and young people through life’s challenges and giving them a safe, encouraging space to grow.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked at The Mustard Seed as an Addictions Recovery Program Supervisor, Wellness Advocate, and Clinic Coordinator. My work with vulnerable and high-needs populations shaped my belief in the power of empathy, stability, and connection, and it drives my commitment to helping people feel supported, respected, and understood.

Therapy for Kids, Teens, and Adults

I’m especially passionate about working with children and teenagers. I love making therapy approachable and engaging, whether it’s working through big emotions, building self-esteem, supporting school or friendship struggles, or helping teens manage stress and pressure.

With adults, I offer a calm, collaborative space to work through life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, self-worth, and family or relationship challenges. My approach is warm, honest, and empowering. We will move at your pace, and we work together to build long-term resilience. I am also a sports psychologist and specialize in helping young athletes deal with sports and performance anxiety and other related issues.

How I Work

I draw from evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based work, narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. My goal is always to build a strong, supportive relationship where you feel safe, seen, and capable of creating meaningful change.

Life Beyond the Therapy Room

When I’m not in session, you’ll find me coaching soccer, skiing, walking my dog, playing Nintendo Switch, or baking something (usually chocolate). I love staying active and creative – it keeps me grounded and brings a sense of play and balance I carry into my work with clients.

A Safe Space to Grow

I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up exactly as they are. Whether you’re a teen navigating school stress, an athlete balancing performance and mental wellness, a parent looking for support, or an adult working through life transitions, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.

I know firsthand that finding a therapist who feels like the right fit can seem like an overwhelming task. Not only is it vulnerable, but at times it can be difficult to get a sense of who this person is or how they might be able to help. I will do my best to be transparent here about who I am and what therapy might be like with me.

First and foremost, I show up to therapy not just as a psychologist, but more importantly as a human being. I will listen to you with genuine care and curiosity, do my best to ensure you feel heard and valued, provide encouragement, offer new perspectives when needed, and even crack a joke or two with those who fancy it. Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and real — qualities I see as essential in building a safe therapeutic relationship.

Marissa Whalley Calgary Psychologist

Marissa Whalley Calgary Psychologist

In addition to the areas of work I’ve listed above, I especially find fulfillment in supporting people through traumatic experiences (religious, spiritual, or relational), holistic health (recognizing the importance of not just our mind but also our physical and spiritual wellbeing in therapy), effective communication, anxiety, and emotion regulation. For many clients, therapy is not only about reducing symptoms but also about reconnecting with themselves, their values, and the people who matter most to them.

When we work together, I believe in blending evidence-based practices with compassion and flexibility. While I value the training I’ve received to guide us, I also deeply value your input in our sessions. You are the expert on your life, and I see therapy as a collaborative process. With our combined wisdom, I am hopeful we can make some of the emotionally heavy stuff feel a little less heavy.

If this resonates with you, I would be honoured to chat further. Reaching out to a counsellor can be intimidating, but it’s also a brave and hopeful first step. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as yourself and where we can work together toward clarity, healing, and growth.

I am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle in Canada, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Royal University, and a Certificate of Integrative Health Coaching from Mount Royal University. I have several years of experience working directly with teens, adults, and couples, especially in the areas of emotion regulation and communication. I am trained in EMDR and have obtained Level 2 training in both DBT and Gottman Couples Therapy. These approaches allow me to integrate skills-based strategies with deeper processing work, depending on your needs.

As a psychologist in Calgary, I am passionate about making counselling accessible and meaningful for people at different stages of life. Whether you are navigating anxiety, working through past trauma, exploring identity, or seeking to strengthen your relationships, I aim to provide therapy that is both supportive and practical.

In my free time, you may find me snuggling my 100-pound Golden Mountain dog named Bear, playing volleyball, skiing, singing off my Bluetooth karaoke microphone, aimlessly seeking a new spot in nature to explore, or pretending not to doze off on the couch while watching Netflix with my partner.

David Tamagi

MC
Registered Psychologist

Hi, I’m David, a Registered Psychologist with a decade of experience in human services. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a teacher, where I developed a deep understanding of the challenges people face during pivotal stages of life. This background, combined with my commitment to compassionate care and evidence-based techniques, allows me to provide meaningful support to individuals seeking to improve their lives and relationships.

Understanding the Weight of Life’s Challenges

I understand that life can be overwhelming. Struggles with shame, trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, or relationship difficulties can weigh heavily, making even small tasks feel like mountains to climb. Societal pressures and expectations can add to the burden, leaving you feeling stuck, exhausted, or disconnected. My approach is rooted in creating a safe and empathetic space where you feel understood, respected, and supported. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and work toward solutions that bring greater peace, fulfillment, and confidence into your life.

Tailored Support for Individuals and Couples

My work with adolescents and young adults focuses on helping them navigate the unique pressures of growing up – whether it’s managing school stress, identity exploration, or the transition to adulthood. I am passionate about providing the tools and guidance they need to feel more empowered and capable of handling life’s demands.

In couples and relationship counselling, I work collaboratively to help partners strengthen their connection, improve communication, and resolve conflicts in a way that fosters growth and mutual understanding. Relationships can be challenging, but with the right tools and insight, they can also become a source of immense strength and joy.

I also have a strong focus on men’s mental health, particularly in addressing societal expectations surrounding masculinity. Many men feel trapped by the need to meet these expectations, which can lead to struggles with shame, vulnerability, and self-expression. I aim to create a nonjudgmental environment where these challenges can be explored openly, helping men develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier relationships.

A Compassionate, Practical Approach

While I draw on evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), my approach is always tailored to your unique needs. I believe that compassionate understanding combined with practical strategies can make a profound difference in how you experience life and navigate challenges. My goal is to help you not just manage the difficulties you face but to build a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with your values.

When I’m not at Solasta, I’m recharging by spending time outdoors, listening to music, or playing and watching sports. I also enjoy quiet evenings at home, reflecting and embracing a sense of stillness. Whether I’m hiking, kicking a soccer ball, or relaxing with a favourite playlist, I find balance in the little moments that bring joy and connection.

Life isn’t always easy, but with the right support, it can become more manageable – and even fulfilling. If you’re ready to take that step, I’m here to walk alongside you, helping you navigate challenges, find resilience, and create a more peaceful, balanced, and connected life.

Tyler Ledwos

MSW, RSW
Mental Health Therapist, Registered Social Worker

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like life isn’t quite going the way you hoped? Whether you’re an athlete dealing with injury, someone navigating a major life transition, or struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, I’m here to support you. My name is Tyler, and I’m a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I provide individual therapy in Calgary and online throughout Alberta for adults seeking meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

With both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary – where I specialized in Adult Addiction and Mental Health – I’ve built a career working in a variety of clinical settings. My experience includes working in the community, hospitals, and as part of multi-disciplinary teams supporting individuals living with trauma, addiction, complex mental health conditions like schizophrenia and ADHD, and those grieving profound losses, including suicide bereavement.

I am deeply committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your emotions, build self-awareness, and develop practical strategies that help you move forward. I work with clients from all walks of life, but I have a special interest in supporting men’s mental health, athletes (both current and retired), and individuals facing identity questions, stress, or significant life transitions.

Growing up in sport and playing football throughout university taught me firsthand how mental health and performance go hand in hand. As a former high-level athlete, I understand the unique challenges athletes face – injuries, burnout, retirement, and the pressure to always perform. Whether you’re an elite athlete, weekend warrior, or somewhere in between, I offer specialized support that blends sports psychology with proven therapeutic techniques to help you thrive both on and off the field.

My therapeutic approach is client-centered and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic-based practices, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), tailoring each session to your individual goals. I believe that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective – it should feel real, grounded, and meaningful.

In my personal life, you’ll often find me cycling through Alberta’s scenic trails or enjoying downtime with friends and family. My love of movement and the outdoors deeply informs how I help clients connect with their own strengths and sense of purpose.

If you’re in Calgary and looking for therapy that is compassionate, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you get unstuck, I’d be honoured to work with you. I currently have a limited number of sliding scale and low-cost appointments available to ensure therapy is more accessible. Reach out today to book a free consultation and see if we’re a good fit.

Rainbow Wong

MA
Canadian Certified Counsellor

Hi my name is Rainbow. I’m so glad you found your way here. No matter where you are today, I hope you find the support you’re looking for.

Many of my clients are adults who grew up with emotionally unavailable parents. In these homes, love often felt conditional, and emotional needs were quietly dismissed. Now as adults, they continue to carry invisible burdens: self-doubt, a harsh inner critic, or a sense of disconnection in their relationships.

Having immigrated to Canada at a young age, I’ve experienced what it’s like to grow up between two worlds – holding my parents’ hopes and expectations while navigating a culture they didn’t always understand. And then came the quiet shame of feeling like I wasn’t enough, even though my pain didn’t seem to have a place.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been deeply attuned to the emotions of those around me, sensing the unspoken feelings beneath words, tone, and silences. I once saw my sensitivity as a weakness. Over the years, as I learned to lean into it, I found that my sensitivity allows me to lean into others with presence, depth, and compassion. Becoming a counsellor wasn’t so much a decision as it was a calling – a way of aligning with what has always felt most true in me.

My approach to counselling is gentle and trauma-informed. I often draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mentalization-Based Treatment. In our work together, we can revisit past experiences that have felt painful to hold. We’ll notice what’s happening internally, including your thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses, and how these patterns show up in your relationships.

I will support you as you gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that have felt wounded, lost, or unwanted. My hope is to create a steady, safe space where all parts of you are welcome. I’m committed to walking alongside you as you find deeper safety within yourself and your relationships.

Outside of the counselling room, I enjoy nature and the quiet companionship of my dogs. They often remind me of the power of presence – that gentleness and warmth can be deeply healing.

If any of this resonates with you, I would love to connect and see if this might be the kind of support you’re looking for.

I am passionate about supporting clients from all walks of life and strive to create a welcoming space for everyone. I offer therapy in both English and Urdu/Hindi, and I am especially committed to working with BIPOC individuals, immigrants, and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply looking for support and clarity, I welcome the opportunity to work with you. My goal is to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom, explore new perspectives, and build a more grounded, authentic life.

Outside of my work at Solasta Counselling, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, and hanging out with my  cat, who even enjoys going for walks. I believe that healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time, and sometimes a little humor (or a funny cat video) can go a long way.

Annie Hudson

Counselling Intern

Hi, I’m Annie – a practicum student in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Marketing, and my career path has taken me through diverse roles that shaped my passion for how humans connect with themselves, one another, and the world around them.

Background

I spent two years teaching English in Taiwan, a journey that not only allowed me to explore my cultural roots but also deepened my self-awareness and appreciation for meaningful relationships. I later worked in human resources and recruitment, where I honed my ability to connect with people, understand their goals, and support them through important life transitions.

Several life events inspired me to re-evaluate my path, and I realized that the common thread running through all my work has been a genuine interest in helping people feel connected – to themselves, to others, and to the world around them. I bring this focus, along with compassion and curiosity, to my work as I continue my training to become a Registered Psychologist.

The Mind–Body Connection

I am passionate about helping clients reconnect with both mind and body to live in a way that feels authentic, balanced, and aligned. Many of life’s challenges – stress, anxiety, burnout, or feeling “stuck” – are not just mental but deeply rooted in our physical and emotional experiences. Together, we explore how these aspects influence each other, building awareness and strategies that help you feel more grounded, present, and in tune with yourself.

Men’s and Women’s Mental Health

I have a strong interest in men’s and women’s mental health, with a focus on understanding both the shared and unique needs that can arise across genders. This includes supporting clients through stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, and helping them develop the skills to verbalize and process emotions in a healthy way. In my work, I recognize how societal and cultural expectations – whether around masculinity, femininity, or other aspects of gender – can impact emotional wellbeing and relationships. While I highlight men’s and women’s mental health, my approach is inclusive and affirming for clients of all gender identities, ensuring everyone feels seen, respected, and supported in their personal growth.

An Integrative, Practical Approach

My approach blends Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy – two evidence-based modalities that help connect the mind, body, and brain. This combination allows us to uncover the “why” behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, while also focusing on practical steps forward. My role is to walk alongside you as you gain clarity, develop self-awareness, and make intentional choices that align with your values. Ultimately, my goal is to help you not only navigate challenges but also deepen your connection to yourself and the world around you.

Interests Outside of Counselling & Psychology

Outside of counselling, I enjoy staying active through running, hiking, yoga, and the gym, which help me feel balanced and grounded. I’m a social butterfly who loves weekend trips, exploring new places, and connecting with others. I also find joy in creative outlets like painting and pottery – anything that lets me express myself and create something meaningful.

Sydney McKenzie-Hougestol

MC
Registered Psychologist, Clinical Director

I am a Registered Psychologist with over eight years of experience working with diverse individuals experiencing complex trauma, substance abuse, homelessness, poverty, and systemic oppression. I hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle in Canada.

I am deeply committed to helping every person I have the honour of doing counselling with. I believe deeply in people and want to connect each person to their truest self. I practice from a narrative, person-centered, and acceptance and commitment therapy lens.

In my psychoeducational assessments, I am passionate about assessments and appropriate diagnoses and the access to resources, accommodations, and the deeper self-understanding they can provide. I believe that a diagnosis provides a window into how we view ourselves but that a diagnosis should never become a label we box ourselves in with. I hope to help you see yourself on a powerful and intricate level, identifying both strengths and areas of challenge with recommendations to help you thrive!

I spend my time reading, cooking, talking about mental health, listening to inspirational podcasts, playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, thinking I should probably be meditating more, watching fun TV, and hanging out with my spouse and cats.

Jocelyn Simpson

MC
Registered Provisional Psychologist

I offer a collaborative, creative, compassionate, strengths-based therapeutic approach. I am delighted to work with all of my clients in understanding their core values, identifying goals, and building a genuine therapeutic connection. Using narrative therapy, I work from a biopsychosocial lens, considering biological, psychological, and social factors that may be impacting the current narrative of the client. We then work to look at unique outcomes or alternate narratives from a strengths-based perspective to build resources and capacity toward client goals.

I am trained in basic and parent/child attachment EMDR. I draw from other approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I maintain a culturally responsive lens with an openness to incorporating creative expression in a client-centered way. With counselling support, we will work together to illuminate a path through your preferred future.I believe counselling provides new and renewed insight. I work from a holistic approach using the biopsychosocial framework to consider biology, psychology, and social factors that impact health and well-being.

I am passionate about working with clients to explore challenges, strengths, and resources in order to support them to thrive. I have experience in the single-session model of therapy, brief therapy, and longer-term therapy. I draw from Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy, Systemic Therapies and work from a culturally responsive and socially just stance. Find renewed insight from a holistic approach. We work together to co-create a thriving life.

Twenty-five years of teaching across the span of varied grade levels, school systems, countries, and cultures have privileged me with the knowledge that every single person in their unique diversity shares the commonality of being human and in need of support within a community. Nineteen years of parenting have left me in awe and wonder of how different the needs of each child can be and how humbling it is to journey through the seasons of life attempting to guide and also inevitably struggling at times. The learning has been to keep going and keep growing. Twenty-one years of marriage has brought highs and lows, embracing each moment, knowing that there is refining, maturing, and developing that happens in life together that I wouldn’t otherwise know. Being a child of immigrant parents affords me the lived experience of sacrificial love and the celebration of instilled values and standards of a culture of origin while fusing with the expanse of what a new culture has to offer. Being a person of faith draws me into a reality that is beyond my physical realm, one where uncertainty is okay, as is surrender.
