About Charmaine

Hi, I’m Charmaine. I strive to offer a comfortable space, filled with compassionate care, and splashes of humour in the right moments.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor with over a decade of experience working with families. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling heard, understood, and with relatable concepts that help shift your perspective for the hard moments life throws our way. I genuinely love hearing people’s stories, and working together to find inner strengths and the pockets of joy in the day to day. I work from an attachment lens and integrate internal family systems and mindfulness approaches. I strongly believe in nature as a therapeutic tool, and will often turn to nature for guidance and inspiration when it comes to healing.

I have worked for various non-profits around the city, and my experience has primarily been supporting families facing systemic barriers, all while juggling the demands and challenges of parenting. When it comes to parenting young children, I am a big believer in co-regulation. Let’s work together so that you can show up in a healthy way for your kids. Since becoming a mother myself, there is a special place in my heart for the motherhood and caregiver journey, and I would love to be a part of your village.

I get it, therapy can seem really daunting. But if you’d like to test the waters, I would be honoured to walk beside you, offering a comfortable place to talk through goals, or simply to provide the space for you to voice what needs voicing. I’m here, and ready when you are.

Who I work with

AdultsWomenCaregiversOlder AdultsParentsNew & Expecting Parents

Communities:

New and expecting parents, mothers and caregivers, and older adults navigating change.

What I can help with

Also:

attachment concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem and confidence, and emotional regulation.

How I work

Attachment-based therapy

Exploring how our earliest relationships shape the way we connect, cope and parent, so you can build steadier, more secure relationships now.

Internal Family Systems (parts work)

Getting to know the different “parts” of you, like the worrier, the critic or the one who keeps going no matter what, with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement.

Polyvagal-informed therapy

Understanding how your nervous system responds to stress, and finding practical ways to feel calmer and more regulated in your body and day to day.

Also:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and nature-informed approaches.

A bit more about me

Outside of therapy, I hang out with my partner, our daughter and our little fluffy puppy. I like reading whimsical, cozy, feel-good books, and I am a very beginner gardener and baker. If you’ve got tips or tricks, I’d love to hear them.
