Online Counselling in Manitoba

Finding the right therapist is not always about finding the closest office.

Solasta Counselling provides online counselling for adults in Manitoba, including people living in Winnipeg, Brandon, rural communities, and elsewhere across the province. Sessions take place securely by video, allowing you to meet with an experienced therapist from your own home.

Our Manitoba online counselling services are provided by counsellors and therapists experienced working with individuals and families and provide support for concerns including anxiety, stress, burnout, pregnancy and postpartum mental health, parenting, grief and loss, self-esteem, emotional regulation, attachment, and major life transitions.

Looking for a Therapist in Winnipeg or Elsewhere in Manitoba?

You do not necessarily need to limit your search for a therapist to professionals with an office in your community.

Online counselling makes it possible to choose a therapist based on their experience, therapeutic approach, availability, and whether they feel like a good fit for you—not simply their postal code.

We work with adults located throughout Manitoba. This can be particularly useful if you live outside a major centre, have a busy work or family schedule, have difficulty travelling to appointments, or simply prefer speaking with a therapist from the privacy and comfort of home.

Sessions are held through secure video and otherwise work much like an in-person counselling appointment. We will spend time understanding what has been happening, what you would like to change, and what you hope to get from counselling.

Pregnancy, Postpartum & Maternal Mental Health Counselling

Pregnancy and becoming a parent can bring enormous change. Alongside moments of joy or connection, there can also be anxiety, exhaustion, grief, uncertainty, changes in identity, relationship strain, or a sense that parenthood is not feeling the way you expected it to.

Some people find themselves struggling with persistent worry, low mood, irritability, guilt, feeling disconnected, difficulty adjusting to their new role, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of caring for a baby while trying to care for themselves.

We have counsellors experienced in perinatal, postpartum, and maternal mental health. Counselling can provide a private space to talk openly about your experience without needing to pretend that everything is fine.

Online sessions can also make therapy more accessible during a stage of life when leaving home for another appointment may be the last thing you need.

Anxiety, Stress & Burnout

Sometimes there isn’t one major crisis. Instead, life gradually becomes harder to manage.

You may find yourself worrying constantly, feeling tense or irritable, struggling to switch off, putting enormous pressure on yourself, or continuing to function while privately feeling exhausted.

Counselling can help you understand the patterns that keep anxiety, stress, and burnout going and develop different ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, expectations, and demands.

The goal is not simply to tell you to relax or give you another list of things you should be doing. Therapy can help make sense of what is happening beneath the surface and identify changes that are realistic within your actual life.

IFS, Parts Work & Attachment-Based Counselling

The death of someone important can affect relationships, sleep, concentration, work, identity, and your sense of what life looks like going forward. Loss can also include pregnancy loss, changes in health, the end of a relationship, changes within a family, or other experiences that leave life looking different from what you expected.

Counselling does not try to hurry grief along or make an important loss disappear. It can provide somewhere to talk openly about what happened, make space for difficult emotions, and gradually find ways to carry the loss while continuing to live your life.

We provide online grief and loss counselling to adults throughout Manitoba.

Parenting, Attachment & Family Life

Parenting can bring out emotions and patterns that are difficult to anticipate before becoming a parent.

You might worry that you are getting things wrong, find yourself reacting in ways you do not understand, struggle with guilt or frustration, or notice that experiences from your own childhood are affecting how you respond to your children.

Our background working with families and our attachment-based approach can help parents better understand both their child’s needs and their own responses.

Counselling can explore parenting stress, attachment and connection, emotional regulation, boundaries, changing family relationships, and the challenge of looking after yourself while being responsible for someone else.

How Does Online Counselling Work?

Online counselling is straightforward. At the time of your appointment, you connect with your counsellor through a secure video platform using a computer, tablet, or phone.

You will need a reliable internet connection and somewhere reasonably private where you feel comfortable talking.

Your first sessions are an opportunity for us to understand what has brought you to counselling, what has been difficult, what is already working, and what you would like help with. Together, you can decide what to focus on and how frequently it makes sense to meet.

You don’t need a referral, and you don’t need to know exactly what kind of therapy you need before you book.

Online Counselling Across Manitoba

We can provide online counselling to adults who are physically located in Manitoba at the time of their appointment.

That includes people living in Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach, Winkler, Portage la Prairie, Thompson, and rural or remote communities throughout Manitoba.

For people outside larger centres, virtual counselling can significantly expand the number of therapists available to choose from. For people in Winnipeg, it simply provides another option: you can choose a therapist based on fit and experience without needing to travel across the city for every appointment.

Solasta Counselling’s physical clinic is located in Calgary, Alberta. Manitoba services described on this page are provided online.

Fees & Insurance Coverage

We have Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCCs) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, who can provide care throughout Manitoba.

Most extended health benefit plans provide coverage for counselling. Coverage varies between insurers and individual benefit plans, so we recommend checking your specific plan to confirm whether services provided by a CCC are eligible.

Receipts are provided for counselling sessions and can be submitted to your insurer when applicable.

Sessions take place using secure video. As with in-person counselling, it is helpful to choose a private location where you feel comfortable speaking openly. We will also discuss confidentiality and its limits as part of the informed-consent process.
